The lowest price is not always the best bargain.

Because we care about the integrity of our industry, we want to warn you about common predatory practices.

We often encounter competing bids for a lower price than we, or others in our industry, can match, while simply paying for our materials and fuel. Clients call us a year later, paying again for the same service because the company they used did not actually exist, or gave no warranty.

Before anyone works on your door:

Get their license number. All companies must be licensed through the Contractor's State Licensing Board (CSLB) to operate in California. To have a license, they must be bonded and insured. This gives you recourse if any damage is done to your property. Check their license status: https://www.cslb.ca.gov/

Check for warrantees. You should be given a warranty on parts, and a separate warranty on labor.

Have their full, written estimate on all services. Make sure you have an estimate for all work before they touch your door. Dishonest service techs often take your door apart before telling you the extra things you "need."

Get explanations for all up-sells. Many companies offer a too-good-to-be-true price for a job, then sell you extra parts and services you don't need. Garage door scam artists will charge you hundreds or even thousands of dollars to install unnecessary parts. Be sure you approve all the work before they begin.

We take pride in our honesty and our skills. We know there are other companies who feel the same, but they do not offer their services for prices significantly lower than ours. Be wary of too-low prices--they're not a bargain in the long run!
